Elle Finance is a healthcare financing technology platform that connects patients with third-party lending partners for dental, medical, and cosmetic treatment financing. Elle Finance is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. All financing is provided by independent third-party lending partners.

Elle Finance Inc. operates in the United States (South Carolina) and Canada (Alberta).

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

Information you provide directly:

  • Full name, email address, phone number, date of birth
  • Employment status and annual income
  • Clinic selection and treatment information
  • Account credentials (email and password)
  • Consent acknowledgments and authorizations

Financial information collected via Plaid:

We use Plaid Technologies, Inc. ("Plaid") to verify your identity, confirm your income, and assess your financial health as part of the financing application process. When you connect your bank account through Plaid, we receive:

  • Bank account and routing information
  • Transaction history and cash flow data
  • Income and employment verification data
  • Identity verification data
  • Credit assessment data (where applicable)

By using our platform and connecting your financial accounts, you acknowledge that your financial data will be retrieved through Plaid and that your use of Plaid is subject to Plaid's Privacy Policy available at https://plaid.com/legal/privacy-notice.

Payment information collected via Stripe:

We use Stripe, Inc. ("Stripe") to process payments. We do not store your raw payment card numbers. Stripe collects and processes payment card data directly and securely. Your use of payment features is subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy at https://stripe.com/privacy.

Device and usage data:

We may collect device type, browser type, IP address, and usage activity on our platform for security, fraud prevention, and platform improvement purposes.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Evaluate and process your healthcare financing application
  • Verify your identity and income through Plaid
  • Share your application information with third-party lending partners for credit decisioning
  • Process payments and manage your account
  • Communicate with you about your application, account, and platform updates
  • Detect and prevent fraud and unauthorized access
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulatory obligations including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), PIPEDA, and Alberta PIPA
  • Respond to your requests and provide customer support

4. How We Share Your Information

We share your personal information only as described below:

Lending partners: We share your application and financial verification data with our third-party lending partners solely for the purpose of evaluating and funding your financing application. Lending partners are bound by applicable FCRA and privacy requirements.

Clinics you select: We share your name and application status with the healthcare clinic you select on our platform so they can coordinate your treatment financing.

Plaid: We share information necessary to initiate Plaid Link and retrieve your financial verification data. Plaid's use of your information is governed by Plaid's Privacy Policy.

Stripe: We share information necessary to process your payments. Stripe's use of your information is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Resend: We use Resend to deliver transactional emails on our behalf. Email content may include your name and account information.

Legal and regulatory: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, regulatory authority, or to protect the rights and safety of Elle Finance, our users, or the public.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Plaid — Important Disclosure

Elle Finance uses Plaid to collect your financial data from your financial institutions. By using our platform, you grant Elle Finance and Plaid the right to access, transmit, and use your financial data for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Plaid's collection and use of your data is governed by Plaid's End User Privacy Policy: https://plaid.com/legal/end-user-privacy-policy.

Consumer Report information obtained through Plaid's Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA) products is used solely for the permissible purpose of evaluating your credit application as defined under Section 604 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You have rights under the FCRA including the right to know if information in your consumer report was used against you and the right to dispute inaccurate information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with applicable legal obligations:

  • Patient application and financial records: minimum 7 years following loan closure
  • Account information: retained while your account is active and for 3 years following closure
  • Payment records: retained per applicable tax and financial recordkeeping requirements
  • Credit report data: retained only as long as required for credit decisioning and regulatory compliance

7. Data Security

We protect your personal information using industry-standard security measures including:

  • TLS 1.2+ encryption for all data in transit
  • AES-256 encryption for all data at rest via Supabase on AWS
  • Role-based access controls and database-level Row Level Security
  • PCI DSS Level 1 compliant payment processing via Stripe
  • Multi-factor authentication for all internal system access

8. Your Rights

United States residents:

Under the FCRA, if a consumer report was used in a credit decision affecting you, you have the right to be informed, to receive a free copy of your report, and to dispute inaccurate information.
